Jacques Levine

In 1932, Falk Levine opened a factory in Middletown, NY intent on broadening the line of sandals and slippers that had been made in the 1920’s. With the core principle of creating the highest quality, finest styles and the best value available in the market.

Jacques Levine became one of the first manufacturers to depart from the norm of creating closed shoes, which women had worn for centuries!

Creator of the Mule

The slipper without the back, known world-wide as the mule, became when Falk Levine, the founder of Jacques Levine, decided to create this new shoe. He decided to call this new shoe a mule, an adaptation of the French mullette.

Continued Growth – Levines, Kidskin Slippers and Espadrilles

As the company continued its growth, Falk’s son Jacque joined the family business in the mid-1940’s. At this time, the Jacques Levine brand made its first appearance. Shortly thereafter, the Jacques Levine world-renowned, soft kidskin slippers debuted in 1969. Representing the third generation of Levines, Harold joined in 1971 and helped expand the line to include casuals and espadrilles.
